Ryan king Devlog week 2


This is the first week where we are beginning progress on the project after going through ideas on what we want to achieve in this project as a group but also as an individual.

 • I decided that from this project I want to further improve my ability to create unique and aesthetically pleasing sprites for the playable character and the level. 

• With these goals in mind, this week we as individuals had to have a very basic playable prototype where we bring ideas on what we want in the project. These prototypes had to follow the theme of control, with this theme and me being the main artist of the group of course I settled on creating the sprite for the main character and some animations that will play when controlling the character. 

• With my goals set out for the prototype I went into photoshop as my chosen software and began sketching out rough outlines of the character, I wanted it to be a large headed robot that is not too detailed and light-hearted to look at. I first went to create the idle animation which although robots don’t normally breathe, I still felt having the normal bounciness of idle animations seen in most media would suit the theming of the game. I then went on for the walking animation where it’s just the robot stretching its arm to drag itself forward. 

• With these animations made I just put them on a player character with very basic movement to display the animatons.
